Officially known as Rot Fai Loi Nam, this seasonal train service takes you on an enchanting journey from Bangkok to the Pasak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi province. But here’s the kicker – When the water levels in the dam rise, the train creates the illusion of floating across the water! It’s a jaw-dropping sight that you just have to see to believe. A perfect addition to your trip to Thailand from India.

The floating train runs every weekend from Nov to Jan, right after the monsoon season. This is when the reservoir’s water levels are at their peak, making the illusion even more spectacular.

As the train chugs along and crosses the brimming Pasak Jolasid Dam, you’ll feel like you’re part of a whimsical adventure. The train seems to skim effortlessly over the water, earning its famed nickname and capturing the hearts of all who ride it.

The Pasak Jolasid Dam is Thailand’s longest earthen dam. It was initiated by the late King Bhumibol to help reduce flooding in Bangkok. Today, it not only serves its purpose but also provides a stunning backdrop for this magical train ride.

Plus, for all fans of Spirited Away, get ready to feel those nostalgic vibes! The floating train is reminiscent of the iconic Sea Railway from the film. Imagine yourself as the main character Chihiro, sailing along the floating tracks, with picturesque views all around. It’s truly like stepping into an animated world!

One of the best parts of the trip? A 20-minute stop right in the middle of the dam! Passengers can hop off the train, get on the tracks and take in the breathtaking landscapes. Snap away with your cameras because this is one photo-op you won’t want to miss.

The train makes a few stops, including a visit to Khok Salung station. Here, you can indulge in local delicacies, shop for unique souvenirs, and pick up some fresh produce sold by the friendly locals. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and take home a piece of the experience.
