Over the recent months India got Visa free entry from Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia. Even though it’s for a limited time, why are they offering visa free entry for Indians? To understand this, we have to go through the numbers on Indian travelers entering the famous destinations in for tourist purposes.
For example, Malaysia is making it easier for people to travel to the country by not requiring them to get a visa. This is attracting more tourists, which is helping the economy.
In the first half of this year, 9.16 million people visited Malaysia. Of those, 498,540 were from China and 283,885 were from India. In the same period of time in 2019, before the pandemic, 1.5 million people from China and 354,486 people from India visited Malaysia.
Malaysia is hoping that by making it easier for people from India to visit, more people will visit Malaysia. India is one of the top five countries that sends tourists to Malaysia.
