Indian Railways, in collaboration with the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is set to unveil a groundbreaking all-in-one mobile app by the end of December. Designed to simplify travel for millions of passengers, the new app will consolidate multiple essential services, including ticket booking, food delivery, train status tracking, and more, all under one platform.

Currently, Indian rail passengers need to juggle various apps for different services. For instance, ticket bookings are handled by IRCTC Rail Connect, food delivery by IRCTC eCatering, complaints and suggestions by Rail Madad, unreserved ticket booking by UTS, and real-time train tracking by the National Train Enquiry System. The new super app will combine all these functions, providing a one-stop solution to ease the travel experience.
The app’s comprehensive design promises to streamline user experience, enabling travelers to book passenger and platform tickets, track train schedules, and order food all within a single platform. By integrating these services, Indian Railways aims to make railway travel not only more convenient but also more efficient.
IRCTC will remain a central player in this initiative, acting as the primary interface between CRIS and the passengers. This new super app is part of IRCTC’s broader strategy to enhance its service offerings and boost revenue. By providing a more unified user experience, IRCTC sees the super app as an opportunity for increased ticket sales and additional revenue streams.
IRCTC has seen significant financial success in recent years. For the fiscal year 2023-24, it reported a net profit of ₹1,111.26 crore, with ticketing alone contributing over 30% of its total revenue. The new super app is expected to further elevate these figures, making train travel more accessible while creating a potential boost in passenger engagement and ticket sales.
